Who We Are & How We Help
When you’re busy and pulled in multiple directions, you need a support team you can trust to do things right. You need people who will come through with a polished product on time, every time. You need a Type A personality – a meticulously organized, detail-oriented, painstaking perfectionist.
That's us.
We are professional virtual assistants -- support strategists who help entrepreneurs and small business owners make magic happen for their businesses. Our number one goal is to maximize efficiency and productivity, and we work seamlessly with you to deliver results. We are established veterans in our respective industries, with over 45 years of combined professional experience.
Susan has been an entrepreneur for more than 35 years. She completely managed several small businesses, focusing on all aspects from selling, purchasing, production, to coordinating and scheduling work with customers and crews, successfully completing scores of projects. She was the first salesperson hired for a national company when they moved into the Tidewater area.
Susan was consistently the top salesperson for the local branch and rose to number eleven in the nation out of nineteen branches in only eighteen months. At her next position, she was hired to start a new division within a local business. Again, she completely managed the entire operations of the division, which was profitable every year for sixteen years under her guidance.
Because of her work ethic, Susan was made a partner in the business in 2001. She became production manager for the entire company, managing all products coming in and leaving the company. In 2005, one of her projects was the purchasing and maintaining of the computer workstations, servers, printers, and accounting software for the company. She steered the company through two cycles of purchasing computer equipment and software upgrades, and she is an expert in helping you figure out how to use technology to grow your business.
In 2012, Susan launched Type A Virtual Solutions to help other business owners grow their businesses with her systems and expert support.

Susan's partner is Adrian, who specializes in marketing and communications for small businesses. Adrian was an accomplished National Board Certified Teacher who spent 18 years in public school classrooms. A driven multi-tasker with a passion for technology, Adrian has used her years as an educator and presenter to develop a wide range of professional talents. She expertly uses all kinds of record-keeping, presentation, and document-creation software and is experienced with numerous website and graphic design applications. Adrian was repeatedly recognized by colleagues, supervisors, the superintendent, and the community for professional excellence and was a top-five finalist for the division-wide Teacher of the Year in 2016.
While teaching full time, she worked with Susan to build Type A. She combined a knack for social media and website design with her background in marketing to work as a social media manager for small businesses and to organize public support for grassroots local campaigns. Her volunteer work advocating for public school funding in the spring of 2012, largely through social media channels, earned her the VBEA’s distinguished “Friend of Education” award. Adrian then worked with Susan to launch and manage the successful social media campaign for Light Rail Now during the 2012 Virginia Beach light rail referendum.
A desire for professional autonomy led Adrian to leave the classroom in 2017 and focus fully on Type A. In addition to building marketing campaigns (via Google Ads, social media, and more), Adrian now builds, redesigns, and manages client websites, including blogging, routine maintenance and updates, and SEO. She also creates marketing materials, writes copy, and produces technical writing for a number of small businesses.
Using their entire compilation of professional experience, Susan and Adrian have focused their “can do” attitude on helping people grow their businesses and meet their goals. Together, we provide an unparalleled level of client support, whatever your business needs may be!
